The Christ Child Society of the Western Reserve announced their scholarship recipients at Mass held earlier this week at St. John Vianney Church. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Tom Johns, St. John Vianney Pastor, who has served as the Spiritual Moderator of the Christ Child Society since its founding in 1983
The Christ Child of the Western Reserve Scholarship was established in 2006 by a group of philanthropic women who assist local families with financial need in various ways. Lake Catholic is proud to be a recipient of their generosity. Since 2006, the Christ Child Society has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to young men and women at Lake Catholic High School who desire a strong Catholic education.

Today the Green and Grey showed their support for the Blue and Red at our annual 9/11 Memorial Mass. We are thankful for the service of so many that keep us safe each and every day. A special thanks to our guests for joining us today - Mentor Fire and Police, Euclid Police and Fire, Painesville Township Police and Fire, Judge Paul Malchesky, and Barb Mancari (Retired U.S. Army Captain).
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 and this tragic day in our nation's history. It's hard to believe that none of our students were born yet when the 9/11 attacks happened. Alison Ellis, our Campus Minister, tasked the students with asking our teachers and administrators where they were that day.
Thank you to our Fr. Martin Dober, Parochial Vicar at St. John Vianney Church, for celebrating Mass today. The blessing of the safety forces and their vehicles served as a beautiful tribute to their dedication to our community.
What a week in Cougar Country!
On Wednesday, we welcomed the newest members of our family to Cougar Country! The Spiritual Life committee made sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable as they navigated their way through the halls of Lake Catholic for the first time. The day ended with an exciting pep rally with the cheerleaders, the Cougar Pride Marching Band, and our special guest Brian May from the band Queen. Special thanks to Brian for stepping in for Mr. Crowley while he was on a Zoom call.
Check out all the pictures from the first few days on Snapfish!
Yesterday was an awesome first day of school! All of our Cougars enjoyed walking the halls, meeting our new teachers, and meeting new friends except for our Mascot, Carlos the Cougar. He had a fun-filled morning on Fox 8 News on their Mascot Mania day! Carlos participated in a parade and a dance-off with his fellow mascot friend - the Mentor Cardinal. If you missed the action, Fox 8 shared the following clips!
This week, the Cougar Pride Marching Band kicked off their season with band camp! Each day is a different themed day. It looks like they're having a great week - we can't wait to see the performance planned for this year's halftime show!
