STEAM Honors Class Introduced For 2020-2021 School Year
The Lake Catholic Science Department has created a new STEAM Honors class, “Methods in Scientific Research and Design” to be introduced in the 2020-2021 school.
This yearlong class will teach students the in-depth methods of scientific investigation. Students will design, plan and implement a yearlong investigation into a research question of their choosing.
Throughout the class, students will be exposed to research methodology, utilizing ethical research practices while assessing, analyzing and synthesizing the information they uncover. Primarily a lab class, the students will also develop statistical, research and presentation skills.
The culminating project will allow for entrance into Northeast Ohio Science and Engineering Fair at Cleveland State University.
The class will be limited to the first twenty students who are rising sophomores and juniors, who have taken Honors Physical Science, Honors Biology with approval from those science teachers, as well as math teachers. Grade to qualify is an A average.
There will be an information session for students prior to course selection for the 2020-2021 school year.
