The first week of school tradition, an all-school opening mass, looked slightly different this year. In previous years, our Cougars walked to St. John Vianney and attended mass inside the church. This year, they walked to St. John Vianney and celebrated mass in a special location - in the church parking lot.
The warm September morning made the setting perfect for our students to come together in prayer.
During his homily, Fr. Dober, reflected on Jesus telling Simon to "Put out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch." (Luke 5:4) Fr. Dober conveyed the meaning as seeking greatness to be a better person and challenged the students to live out these words during the school year.
While it was non-traditional, it was a unique and special opportunity for our students to still pray together during these unprecedented times.
