Head Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach

 

Reports to Athletic Director

Founded in 1970, Lake Catholic High School is a coeducational comprehensive high school with a college preparatory emphasis. Lake Catholic is committed to educating young men and women of diverse means and ability throughout Northeast Ohio. With a population of roughly 500 students in grades nine through twelve, Lake Catholic High School emphasizes spiritual growth in the Catholic Faith as students learn, work, and serve.

Position Overview

Working with the support of Lake Catholic High School, the head coach is responsible for developing all players (grades 9-12) on and off the field through championship caliber environment, an open door for competition and development of skills, character, & leadership at all levels.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coaches individual participants in mechanics, film study, & skills necessary to compete at the highest level possible.
  • Communicate with other coaches, to schedule in-season games & playing opportunities.
  • Coordinates & supervises a regular schedule of practice.
  • Encourages sportsmanship & team unity and enforce all sportsmanship guidelines.
  • Enforces discipline of contest, school, league, & state rules & regulations.
  • Supervises assistant coaches & enhances their professional development.
  • Support school organized efforts for sustainable fundraising plan & communication with the players, coaches, media, & community.
  • Hire & manage a coaching staff.
  • Attend required coaches’ clinics, rules meetings, conference meetings, & post season meetings.
  • Develop & maintain a relationship with Lake Catholic athletic director & administration to facilitate field/facility use & monitor student athlete academic development.
  • Provides & displays a willingness to work with athletic department administration, staff, student athletes, & parents.
  • Support players in college selection process & recruiting process.
  • Develop & organize out of season training & player development.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, coaches, and community.  
  • Experience coaching/participating in lacrosse at the high school or college level.
  • Knowledge of applicable OHSAA lacrosse rules/regulations.
  • Excellent communication

  • Excellent motivational skills

Pre-employment requirement

  • All persons employed will be required to meet the state requirements for coaching.
  • Certificates of Completion for:
  • Virtus Training
  • First Aid, Health and Safety
  • Fundamentals of Coaching
  • Concussion in Sports
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  • CPR
  • Forward Certificates of Completion to Athletic Department
  • FBI/BCI background check Results sent to ODE and LC
  • Apply for Pupil Activity Permit (PAP)
  • Notify Lake Catholic’s Athletic Department of completion of tasks

Substitute Teacher

Essential Job Functions

  • Follows lesson plans
  • Maintains a neat and orderly classroom
  • Ensures that students are supervised and not left unattended in the classroom
  • Maintains accurate attendance records
  • Keeps students safe and engaged
  • Monitors student progress and assists where needed by keeping proximity
  • Maintains existing classroom management and discipline procedures
  • Understands building and classroom policy and procedures
  • Provides written feedback for the classroom teacher

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree - any field
  • Clean criminal background
  • Three (3) positive professional references
  • Experience working with school aged children
  • Ohio Department of Education Substitute Teacher License, or higher license.
  • FBI & BCI Background checks (cost covered by applicant)
